- 2 sticks margarine
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 2 1/4 c. sifted plain flour, divided
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. red or green maraschino cherries, well drained
- 1 c. chopped pecans, divided
Directions

1Cream margarine, cheese, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.

2Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

3Sift 2 cups flour with baking powder and add slowly to creamed mixture. Combine remaining 1/4 cup flour with cherries and 1/2 cup pecans. Fold into batter.

4Sprinkle remaining pecans into bottom of a well greased (no flour) tube pan.

5Pour in batter and bake at 325° for 1 hour or until done.

6Cool in pan 5 minutes, then remove to finish cooling.
