- 2 1/2 c. Gold Medal self-rising flour
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- maraschino cherries
- 1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
- candied pineapple
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour loaf pan.

3Blend all ingredients

4in large mixer bowl on low speed for 15 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Pour into pan.

5Bake until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 60 to 65 minutes.

6Immediately cool on wire rack. Garnish top of nut bread with maraschino cherries and green sliced candied pineapple, if desired.

7For better slicing, refrigerate overnight.
