Homemade Refried Beans

- 2 cups water
- 8 ounces dry pinto beans
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions

1Combine the water and beans on stove. Bring to a boil and time it for two minutes.

2Remove from heat and cover. Let sit for one hour.

3Add enough water to cover beans and bring to a boil again. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

4Mash beans and add the butter, salt and 1/2 cup of the cheese.

5Serve remaining cheese on top of each serving.
