- 5 lb. plain flour
- 4 Tbsp. yeast
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 1/4 c. warm water
Directions

1Mix yeast in warm water in a large bowl.

2Add shortening and stir to melt.

3Mix in salt and sugar.

4Stir in flour gradually. Mix thoroughly with wooden spoon or dough hook.

5Put into a greased bowl to raise.

6Cover and set in warm place until double in bulk. Punch down and shape into desired type rolls.

7Place in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

8Brush with butter.

9Bake at 375°.
