Honey Walnut Bread

- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. honey
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. grated orange rind
- 1/2 c. walnuts, coarsely chopped
Directions

1Scald 1 cup milk. Add 1 cup honey and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

2Cool the mixture. Beat in the butter and eggs.

3Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda and stir into the batter.

4Beat well. Add the walnuts and orange rind.

5Pour the batter into a floured and buttered loaf pan and bake the bread in a moderately slow oven at 325° for about 1 hour. Cool the bread for 15 minutes in the pan and then turn it out on a wire rack to cool. Serve thinly sliced with butter or cream cheese.
