  • 8 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen black-eyed peas or 1 lb. can, drained
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 1/3 c. quick cooking rice
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Worcestershire to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 c. chopped onion (about 1 medium to large)
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/3 c. long grain rice
  • 2 1/4 c. water
  • 3/4 c. lentils
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Coat a heavy saucepan with oil; add onions and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until onions are softened.

    Add garlic and rice, stirring to coat rice with oil.

    Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes, or until rice is opaque.

    Add water, lentils, salt and pepper.
