Hot Caramel Apples

- 1/4 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. regular or low-fat evaporated milk
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch slices

Directions

1In a large, heavy-bottom skillet, over medium-high heat, melt butter; add sugar.

2Stir rapidly just until mixture is golden brown (1 to 2 minutes).

3Stir in cinnamon.

4Remove pan from heat; add milk.

5Return to heat, stirring, until hardened sugar dissolves and mixture looks like caramel.

6Cover skillet, reduce heat and simmer until apples are tender (about 5 minutes).

7Put apples in a serving bowl.

8Over high heat bring caramel to a boil until thickened (1 to 2 minutes).

9Pour over apples and serve. Serves 8.
