  • 4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon or 6 medium sticks
  • 1 tsp. ground or whole cloves
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 3 medium oranges, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 gal. dry red wine

Directions

    In 8-quart saucepan combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves and water. Add orange and lemon slices.

    Heat to boiling.

    Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Reduce heat to medium.

    Add wine; heat to piping hot, but not boiling; stir occasionally.

    Carefully ladle into individual servings of heat-safe punch glasses.
