Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 c. flour (add more flour as needed)
  • 1 medium potato, boiled and mashed

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in 3/4 cup warm water and set aside.

    Mix egg, potato, sugar, salt and shortening together.

    Add flour gradually to mixture.

    Add dissolved yeast to other ingredients and knead until smooth.

    Put dough in greased bowl and let rise in warm place until doubled in size.

    Work down and repeat rising process. Make rolls and cook in 400° oven for about 15 minutes.
