  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 rounded Tbsp. Crisco
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/8 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 c. hot water

Directions

    Mix sugar, molasses and egg.

    Add Crisco and flour; stir well. Add remaining ingredients.

    Batter will be thin after adding in hot water.

    Mix with a mixer for 1 to 2 minutes.

    Bake in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan in a 300° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
