Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/4 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 small jar of jam (any flavor you choose)
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts

    Beat 2 egg whites.

    Set aside.

    Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla and 2 egg yolks one at a time.

    Sift flour, baking powder and soda; add to creamed mixture a little at a time.

    Spread on 9 x 13 inch cookie sheet with sides.

    Spread jam on crust.

    Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts, and then put beaten egg whites on top. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup chopped nuts.

    Bake at 350° for 20 - 25 minutes.
