  • 1 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1 lb. box brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 to 5 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

    Mix in the order given.

    Mix well.

    Separate into 4 sections. Roll into the shape of a cylinder.

    Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate or freeze as needed.

    The cylinders can be frozen for 6 months.

    Slice into 1/4-inch slices.

    Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown.
