- 2 c. 40% bran flakes
- 2 c. boiling water
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 qt. buttermilk
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. margarine or shortening
- 5 c. flour
- 4 c. all-bran
Directions

1Pour hot water over 40% bran flakes and let stand.

2Cream the shortening and sugar.

3Add eggs, buttermilk and 40% bran flakes. Mix flour, soda, salt and all-bran.

4Add to sugar mixture.

5Stir until all is moistened.

6Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 400°.

7Makes 1 gallon or 5 to 6 dozen.

8Keeps 3 to 4 weeks in refrigerator.

9Dough may be frozen unbaked.
