Ingredients

  • 1 yeast cake dissolved in 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. other shortening
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. hot potatoes, mashed
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 to 8 c. flour

Directions

    Add shortening, sugar, butter and mashed potatoes to yeast cake and water.

    Let stand for 2 hours in a warm room.

    Add 1 cup cold water, salt and flour and knead.
  4. 4
    Put in bowl and let rise double in bulk; knead again.

    Make rolls and store remainder in refrigerator in covered container.

    Bake at 375° for 10 or more minutes.
