  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Put 1/2 cup of the sugar in iron skillet over low heat.

    In sauce pan, mix remaining 2 cups of sugar, milk, butter, and egg. Stir mixture over low heat until butter melts then increase heat and boil rapidly.

    Take sugar that is in iron skillet melted and pour in other mixture.

    Stir fast and constantly.

    Cook until soft ball stage.

    Remove from heat and add 1 tsp. vanilla.

    Beat well and spread on cake.
