Iowa Pork Chops

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 pork chops (3/4 inch thick)
- 3/4 c. water
- dash of ground cloves
- dash of pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper to taste
- 6 carrots, peeled and cut in chunks
- 6 potatoes, peeled and cut into small chunks
- 1 small onion, cut into chunks
Directions

1Sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt on pork chops and brown them in the shortening in a skillet.

2Transfer to casserole dish (along with pan drippings).

3Mix together other ingredients and add to dish. Cover dish and bake at 350° for 1 hour.

4Uncover dish and continue to bake for approximately another 1/2 hour and then enjoy an Iowa pork chop dinner.
