- 4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt (1/2 tsp.)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 Tbsp. caraway seed (optional)
- 1/4 c. oil
Directions

1s. While kneading, gradually add 1 1/4 cups buttermilk.

2Knead well.

3Grease and flour frying pan or cookie sheet.

4Place batter in frying pan and shape into mound.

5Spread buttermilk on top and add a little sugar.

6Snip a cross on top with scissors.

7Bake at 400° for first 10 minutes and at 350° for 30 more minutes.
