- 3 c. unbleached flour
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. currants or dark seedless raisins
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 3/4 to 2 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients together in large mixing bowl.

2Stir in currants.

3Combine eggs, 1 3/4 cups buttermilk and butter.

4Add to dry ingredients until flour is moistened.

5Add 1/4 cup more buttermilk if needed.

6Batter should be thick and with small lumps but not dry.

7Turn batter into 2 greased bread pans.

8Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.

9Remove from pans immediately and allow to cool thoroughly before slicing.
