  • 4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. shortening
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 5 egg yolks
  • juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions

    Cook rice in milk at a low simmer until milk is absorbed and rice is tender.
