Ingredients
- 1 bunch (about 2 lb.) broccoli, sliced, washed, drained and dried
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sherry
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. dark soy sauce
- 1/2 c. water or chicken stock
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. bacon bits (optional garnish)
Directions

1Mix together sugar, m.s.g., cornstarch, soy sauce and stock. Set aside.

2Heat wok hot and dry.

3Add oil, then salt. Reduce heat to medium and add the garlic.

4When garlic is golden brown, add the broccoli.

5Turn heat up and stir-fry for 2 minutes.

6Add the sherry and cover wok quickly.

7Cook, covered, for 2 minutes longer.

8Lift cover and add the sugar-m.s.g. mixture while stirring.

9When the gravy has thickened, transfer to a serving dish.

10Garnish with bacon bits if you like.
