  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. blackberry jam
  • 1 c. strawberry jam
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 5 egg yolks, well beaten
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp. soda
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 1 c. grated nutmeats
  • 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add jam, raisins and egg yolks; beat until smooth.

    Add flour and milk to which soda has been added. Mix well.

    Add spices and nutmeats; mix well.

    Fold in egg whites which have been stiffly beaten.

    Pour in greased layered pans. Bake in a 400° oven until done.
