  • 5 eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 c. blackberry jam
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add well beaten eggs.

    Sift flour before measuring twice.

    Add all spices to flour. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to flour mixture.

    Put everything together, mixing well.

    Flour raisins and nuts; add to mixture and stir.

    Add jam; mix well with spoon.

    Put into 2 (9-inch) pans or Bundt pan; bake for 40 minutes at 350°.
