  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/4 c. blackberry jam
  • 2 tsp. each: allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1 c. black walnuts
  • 6 Tbsp. buttermilk, dissolved in 1 Tbsp. soda

Directions

    Mix all ingredients, adding beaten egg whites last.

    Bake in 2 square pans or 3 (9-inch) round pans in a 350° to 375° oven until straw comes out clean.
