  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. jam
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 c. sour cream
  • 3 egg whites

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Beat in egg yolks and whites.

    Stir in jam.

    Re-sift flour with other dry ingredients.

    Add flour in about three parts alternately with sour cream.

    Beat batter after each addition until well blended.

    Bake cake in two greased 9-inch layer pans or 9-inch tube pan in moderate 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
