- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 5 eggs
- 2 c. jam
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 c. walnuts
- 1/4 c. flour
Directions

1Cream brown sugar and butter.

2Add beaten eggs.

3Add jam. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.

4Sift together flour, salt and spices.

5Add flour mixture and buttermilk.

6Dredge raisins and nuts in 1/4 cup flour and add to batter.

7Pour into a well greased and floured tube pan.

8Bake at 250° for 2 hours.

9Place small tin of water on rack beside cake while baking to keep top from getting hard.
