  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • favorite jam or jelly

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350F Cream first five ingredients together, then add remaining three.

    Hand roll into 1 inch balls and place on greased baking sheet, keep 1/4 of dough to the side.

    Using your thumb or spoon make a depression in the balls then spoon in just enough jam to fill.

    Use remaining dough to make small tops to place over the jam.

    Bake 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
