- 1/2 c. butter/margarine
- 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. quick oats
- 1/2 c. jam, jelly or preserves
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease an 8-inch pan.

3In medium bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.

4Add extract.

5In another medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and oats.

6Thoroughly mix together until crumbly.

7Reserve 1 cup of mixture.

8Firmly pat remaining mixture into the greased 8-inch pan.

9Spread jam, jelly or preserves to within 1/4-inch of edge.

10Top with remaining cup of mixture.

11Pat down.

12Bake 30 to 40 minutes, until lightly golden.

13Cool in pan.

14Cut into bars.
