- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 pound raisins
- 1 pound currants
- 1/2 pound cherries
- 1/2 pound prunes chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups wine
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon almond
Directions

1Soak fruits in wine overnight

2Cream butter and sugar until soft and fluffy

3Add eggs one at a time to butter and sugar mixture, beating well after each addition

4Sieve dry ingredients into butter and cream mixture, alternatively with wine and fruits

5Add vanilla, almond, cinnamon, and mixed spice to this mixture

6Pour mixture in greased and line baking tin

7Bake at 300°F for 1 1/2 hours then at 275°F for another 1 1/4 hours.

8Add wine daily to maintain moisture.
