  • 2 lb. pinto beans, soaked overnight in water
  • 2 lb. lean, cooked ham
  • 1/2 lb. lean salt pork
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (less may be used)
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 small can Ortega taco sauce (1/2 to 1 c.)
  • 1 small can diced green chiles
  • 1 large can tomatoes, cut up

Directions

    Cut ham into small pieces.

    Add all ingredients to the beans, adding just enough water to cover beans.

    Cook slowly until done (5 to 6 hours).
