- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. melted shortening (don't use oil)
- 4 c. plain sifted flour
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Mix all dry ingredients well.

2Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.

3Add shortening, yeast and buttermilk to dry mix and knead well.

4Flour as needed to roll out.

5Roll out, cut and place biscuits in a greased pan.

6Bake in a 425° preheated oven until brown (12 to 15 minutes).

7Mix makes about 24 large biscuits.
