Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground round or ground sirloin
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 2 tsp. parsley
  • 2 (28 oz.) cans tomato sauce (large)
  • 2 (12 oz.) cans tomato paste (large)
  • 2 cans water (use tomato paste can for measure)
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil

Directions

    In large, heavy stock pan, heat oil and brown meat.

    Drain off fat.

    Add all ingredients and bring to a boil slowly.

    Simmer for at least 1 1/2 hours.

    It's much better the day after and freezes well.

    Keeps in the fridge for at least one week.

    Cook mostaccioli as directed on the box.
