- 3/4 lb. butter or oleo
- 5 c. sugar
- 5 c. milk
- 1 1/2 c. Karo syrup
- 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 lb. walnuts, chopped fine
Directions

1Melt butter, sugar and syrup.

2Add 1 cup milk and cream of tartar.

3Cook fast, stirring and adding remaining milk, 1 cup at a time, about every 5 minutes.

4Cook slow until crack stage (248°). Fold in nuts.

5Pour in greased cookie sheet.

6Cool.

7Cut with scissors.

8Wrap in waxed paper.

9Twist ends.
