Ingredients

  • 4 to 8 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 c. onion, chopped
  • 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. fresh basil, chopped (or 1/2 tsp. dried)
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin (optional)
  • 2 to 3 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 to 2 jalapeno peppers, minced (to taste)

    Combine all

    of the above and blend well.

    Cover and chill for several hours or over night. A food processor works very well for all of the chopping.

    Wear plastic gloves for the jalapenos and don't touch your eyes.

    Serve with tortilla chips.
