  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion medium
  • 1/2 jalapeno
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste garlic
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce or diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon Garam Masala
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • chili powder to taste
  • frozen peas
  • green onions
  • cilantro

Directions

    Cook ground beef until browned and drain.

    Heat oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, turmeric, and garlic ginger.

    When popping, add finely chopped onion and jalapeno until the onions become translucent.

    Add ground beef, tomato sauce, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, lemon juice, chili powder, and frozen peas to the mixture and simmer until desired thickness is achieved and peas are unfrozen.

    Top with green onions and cilantro before serving in pita pockets.
