Ingredients

  • pastry dough for 9-inch pie shell
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 3/4 c. walnut pieces
  • 1 c. chopped quality chocolate (do not use commercial chips)
  • whipped cream (for garnish)

Directions

    d surface to 1/8-inch thickness.

    Fit into 9-inch pie plate; trim and flute edge.

    Pierce bottom with fork.

    Bake at 350° for 20 minutes, or until bottom is cooked through but not brown.

    Cool. Mix flour, sugar and salt.

    Put butter and eggs into large bowl; stir in dry ingredients.

    Stir in vanilla.

    Stir in walnuts and chocolate chips; pour into cooled pie shell.

    Bake at 325° for 40 to 45 minutes, until top is golden.

    Cool slightly on rack.
