Ingredients

  • 3 large onions
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 lb. beef (chuck roast or round steak)
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 c. apple cider or juice
  • 1/2 c. ketchup
  • 3 large potatoes
  • 4 medium carrots
  • peas and mushrooms (optional)

Directions

    Brown onions in oil with meat.

    Combine flour, salt, pepper and thyme; add to meat.

    Stir in cider and ketchup.

    Cover; cook slowly for 1 1/2 hours.

    Add more liquid.

    Add potatoes and carrots; simmer 1 hour.
