  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • about 1 c. lukewarm water
  • flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. oleo
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Dissolve yeast and sugar in water; let this sit until yeast foams, then add enough flour to make like a paste, then let it rise for about 30 minutes at room temperature.

    Then you add this to the paste, sugar, eggs, oleo, milk and salt.

    Add enough flour to make the dough like for homemade bread.

    Let it rise about 1 hour; knead it down, then let it rise again, then they are ready to be put on the tin.

    Pull off dough big as an egg for each kolache.

    Then make a hole in the center, then put fruit (prunes, apricots, etc.) in center of dough.

    Let rise about 1 1/2 hours before baking.
