Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 c. onion, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 5 c. tomatoes
  • 2 (6 1/2 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 1 lb. lasagna noodles
  • 1 1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 2 lb. cottage cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Directions

    Brown meat in oil.

    Add onion and garlic.

    Mix in all spices and add tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste.

    Simmer for 40 minutes.

    Cook noodles according to package directions.

    Keep in cold water until ready to use.

    Combine Mozzarella cheese with cottage cheese and eggs.

    Use three 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dishes. Make the following layers:

    sauce to cover bottom of pan generously, then noodles, cottage cheese/egg mixture and 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese.

    Repeat until done.

    Top with Parmesan cheese.

    Bake for 45 minutes at 350°.
