- 1 lb. Italian sausage or ground beef
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. basil
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 lb. cooked noodles
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced thin
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomatoes
- 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
- 3 c. Ricotta or cottage cheese
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Brown meat slowly, spooning off fat.

2Add sausage, tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic, basil and salt.

3Simmer, uncovered, for 1/2 hour, stirring occasionally.

4Place half of cooked noodles in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.

5Spread on half of the cheese mixture and cover with half the Mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce. Repeat layers about twice more.

6Bake at 375° for about 45 to 60 minutes.

7Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
