  • 1/2 lb. Italian sausage
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 10 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 3 c. creamy cottage cheese (24 oz.)
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced very thin

    Brown meat slowly and drain off excess fat.

    Add the next 5 ingredients.

    Simmer 20 to 25 minutes (uncovered), stirring occasionally.

    Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse.

    Combine the remaining ingredients except the Mozzarella cheese.

    Place half the noodles in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish; spread with half the cottage cheese filling.

    Add half the Mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce.

    Repeat layers.

    Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes.

    Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
