- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- rind of lemon
Directions

1Cream sugar and Crisco; add unbeaten eggs.

2Sift baking powder, flour and salt together.

3Add to first mixture, then add milk and rind of lemon.

4Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake in 350° oven for 1 hour.

5Let cool about 5 minutes in pan. Mix 1/4 cup sugar with juice of 1 lemon (about 1/3 cup lemon juice) and pour over the top of bread.

6When cool, remove from pan.
