Lemon Nut Bread

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • rind of 1 lemon
  • salt
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/3 c. sugar

Directions

    Beat all together; add nuts and rind.

    Use long narrow loaf pan; line pan with waxed paper.

    Bake for 1 hour at 300°.

    Cool slightly for 5 or 10 minutes.

    Pour over while in pan, 1/3 cup sugar mixed with juice of 1 lemon.

    If regular bread pan is used, bake at 300° for 3/4 hour and 10 or 15 minutes at 350°.
