  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 2 Tbsp. (rounded) flour
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • grated rind of 1/2 lemon

    Cream sugar and butter.

    Add beaten egg yolks, flour, lemon and milk.

    Beat egg whites very stiff; add last, folding in.

    Put in casserole.

    Set in a pan of hot water.

    Bake for 45 minutes in a slow (350°) oven.

    Forms custard below and solid on top.
