- 1 c. sugar
- 1/3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. grated lemon rind
Directions

1Combine sugar, cornstarch and a pinch of salt in a saucepan. Slowly add water and heat over medium heat until thick and clear. Remove from heat; add butter, lemon juice and lemon rind.

2Serve with any variety of cakes (i.e.

3unfrosted orange, vanilla or pound cake).

4Also good with puddings and ice cream.

5A variation includes adding 1/4 cup crushed pineapple instead of water.
