- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. butter
- 3 Tbsp. hot water
- 1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Directions

1Combine sugar and egg in a double boiler; stir well.

2Add butter and remaining ingredients, stirring well.

3Bring water to a boil.

4Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened.

5Serve warm over pound cake.

6Yields 1 1/3 cups.
