  • 1 1/3 c. Dixie Crystals light brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. grated lemon peel
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 4 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • lemon roses

Directions

    Beat sugar and butter until light; add lemon peel.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Add milk and juice; beat well.

    Combine flour, soda and salt.

    Add to batter. Add nuts.

    Mix until just blended.

    Turn into two greased and floured loaf pans, 9 x 5 x 3-inches.

    Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 50 minutes or until done.

    Cool on rack.

    Remove from pans and cool completely.

    Garnish with roses if desired.
