- 2 1/8 cups red lentils, rinsed
- 2 None green chilies, deseeded and finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 4 None cloves
- 1/2 None cinnamon stick
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 None onion, thinly sliced
- 3 None garlic cloves, crushed
Directions

1Place the lentils and chilies in a pot and cover with 3 cups boiling water. Simmer for 10-12 mins.

2Crush the spices in a mortar until powdered. Heat the butter in a small saucepan, add the spices and saute for 1-2 mins, until fragrant. Add the onions and garlic and saute for 3-4 mins until just soft. Stir into the lentils and simmer for 4-5 mins. Serve.
