- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 beaten eggs
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- 1 egg yolk, beaten
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water.

2Scald milk and stir in sugar, butter and salt.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Stir beaten eggs and yeast into milk mix, then beat in 2 cups of flour.

5Knead in enough remaining flour to make a smooth dough which is easy to handle. Cover and let rise for 1 1/2 hours.

6Punch dough down and cover. Rest for 10 minutes.

7Divide dough in half and shape each into a round loaf.

8Place on greased baking sheet.

9Cover and let rise until doubled.

10Brush with beaten egg yolk and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
