Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
- 3/4 c. lukewarm water
- 3/4 c. milk, scalded and cooled
- 5 to 5 1/4 c. flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in cooled milk.

2Add salt, shortening, sugar and water.

3Add flour, a little at a time, mix well after each addition.

4Turn onto floured board and knead until smooth.

5Cover with warm damp towel.

6Let rise until double.

7Roll 1/3-inch thick. Cut into 2-inch circles.

8Crease middle with dull knife.

9Brush with butter; fold along crease.

10Place close together in well-greased baking sheet.

11Cover and let rise to treble size. Bake at 450° for 15 to 18 minutes.

12Makes 24 rolls.

13You may use bread machine's dough cycle.
