- 1 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
- 1 egg, unbeaten
- 1/4 c. hot water
- 1/2 c. maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt.

2Cream the butter; add sugar gradually and cream thoroughly.

3Add egg and beat well.

4Combine water and maple syrup and add alternately with the dry ingredients, beating well after each addition.

5Add vanilla and nuts.

6Turn into lined or greased muffin tins and bake in moderate (350°) oven about 20 minutes.
